The Mainman's store was always fun to go in and buy candy and wait for a prescription with your parents. Carvel was right across the street facing the Drug store. Moreover, an Afro-American by the name of Jeffrey work there for years when we were growing up. It was truly a wonderful childhood experience. The store next door to the pharmacy was a Delicatessen when I was a kid and they gentleman who owned it let me and my friends eat there on Friday's free hamburgers and fries. The people were extremely gracious and kind. Then the space became a medical clinic and the Mainman Pharmacy remained in business. The Mainman Pharmacy made the Eyewitness News one day during the summer when some men tried to rob the place for prescription drugs and money. However, they were under surveillance by the police shots were fired one man went down. We witnessed this from the window above on the 5th floor Apt 5f. I have all those fond memories growing up in the neighborhood I miss it so much.

God Speed.

Emery Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7088113792698926514.post-87451831580080844152012-06-05T08:32:23.735-07:002012-06-05T08:32:23.735-07:00Very sad indeed.
